Piliavin & Zimbardo – Roots/Alcanzar

Piliavin & Zimbardo return to Honchos with a two track 12" that is sure to burn up a dancefloor near you soon! Piliavin & Zimbardo, the Yorkshire production duo, have been raising a few eyes & ears over the last 6 months with a string of solid releases on Honchos Music, Eric Morillo's Sondos label and their own Distraekt label.

Currently being championed by the likes of Satoshie Tomiie, Tom Stephan, Rocky (who has signed them up for an EP for Low Pressings), 'Roots' is a meaty slice of dub-tinged tech-house. Very chunky and useful only to those who refuse to compromise with their music, this cut has the trademark P&Z sound stamped all over it. On the flip, 'Alcanzar' has the lads veer towards a more deep and sultry sound that's less the reggae jump up style of 'Roots' and more of a brooding wall of sound style.

a-J-Scent is back on Honchos Music, this time with the funked up electronic groover that is 'I Love Digital.' This record has been doing the damage on white label for ages and is now ready for a full release over two discs backed with a new edit from Rob Mello (Classic/Music For Freaks) and an unreleased bonus cut from a-J-scent.

This monster head banger hits the mark from the start with a driving live kick drum that effortlessly merges into a digitally-twisted electronic groove. An uncompromising fat bassline, rolls and grooves with the melodies whilst a crazy vocal sample toasts away and wraps up a stonker of a track. This one's only for the most depraved of dance-floors, think Daft Punk meets City Rockers on Ketamine and you'd be nearly there!

Fresh from the runaway success of his 'IP' series on NRK (The Fly Shuffle, Missing You, Quattro etc) Ian teamed up with Majik J at a secluded studio near the world famous Piha beach on North Island, New Zealand.This track is a straight up groover with tough, percussive beats and a lush disco-loop… perfect summer dancefloor fodder and destined to be huge for it's release in September 2002, backed with some new Pooley mixes.
